Some Chicken Will Try To Fly

We have all seen it, Eagle appears, flies above the head, chicken is astonished, hand on cheek, chicken head cock to the side, finger tapping lip, wonders how, thinking, I bet I can do it, why not, if not. Spreads out wings, prop on its tiny legs, flaps vigorously, stirs up its inner ninja, the remains of the inherited instinct to roost up high, lifts up that heavy body and off it goes. Okay maybe not as high or as fast as the eagle, but nobody can fault the effort and chicken feels exhilarated, the sight above the ground is breathtaking. Chicken is grateful for the appearance of eagle inspiring him to take a leap.

On another occasion, eagle flew low above chicken and chicken went at him, clucking, giving out rising and falling peeps with high pitched quavering, with no intention of moving an inch of his body from where he is, his feather became puffed and ruffled, the comb pale. Chicken becomes moody, withdrawn, sensitive and aggressive. He reckoned ‘how dare eagle fly!’ and took offence. Eagle was perturbed.

As aspiring human, we have to be prepared that every time we fly into chicken-like gathering, one of two things will happen. It is either we inspire some or we are attacked by those that have no intention of trying. For some there is no inner ninja, no inherited instinct to stir up and every attempt to motivate and inspire will only result in more and more strop and drama. We are better off adhering to the admonishment of the master. If there is no person of desire, dream, longing and yearning at home, let us shake the dust off our feet and continue our flight.

On the other hand some chicken will try to fly, those are our people to encourage, inspire, support, motivate and mentor. Our sheep will always hear our voice and the voice of the stranger they will not hear. We are not called to everyone and we will all save ourselves a lot of headache if we are discerning. Someone ask ‘how would you know the fliers from the non-fliers, all chicken look alike?’ True, they all look alike, but by there fruits, words and works we shall know them.

Some chicken will never fly, all they will ever do is criticise and poke holes at Eagle’s flying techniques, however some chicken will try to fly, continue to be inspiring!
