… according to Doctors only 35% of adults have 20/20 sight without corrective measures such as glasses, surgery etc. And only 75% have it with the corrective measures. Given that not everyone one has access to or takes advantage of corrective measures, it is possible that at least 50% of adults are going around with imperfect vision and getting on with their business. Maybe a few will bump into one thing or another every now and then, but life generally continues. It is also possible that those with perfect visions will bump into a few things every now and then for other reasons aside from them vision such as distractions, tiredness etc.
We see what we see and what we don’t see, we don’t see. What we see is our world, our perception is our reality and we operate from that basis.
Physical sight is akin to our outlook, vision or understanding of issues. Few people if any has 20/20 clarity on issues, few people, if any have perfect understanding of a subject matter. Hardly anyone has all the knowledge and understanding of a business idea. Yet this imperfections is what stops some from making progress. They need to understand it fully before commencing. Perfection must be in place before the project begins. Progress is halted because it just came to light that all that is required to be known is not known. If hiring companies are to wait to recruit until they find the candidates that meet every single requirement on the person specification they will never run any business. He that waits for perfect conditions will never get anything done.
Progress is required for our happiness and well being and we must not allow imperfect vision to stop us. If we have the means and opportunities to put in place corrective measures where vision is lacking or compromised then we must most definitely do so. But where this is not the case, progress can still be made without perfect vision. The fact remains that now we know in part, we understand in part, we must operate with what we have not we don’t have. We all know people, who forever talk about what they don’t have as the reason for not doing anything.
Most blind people are not totally blind, in the same manner that most cloudy vision are not totally unusable, we can still make a start, be it tentatively. Some argue that “we are to write the vision, make it plain, that he that reads it may run” and I agree. But at the same time we can only write what we see, we draw what we see, we say what we know and that is as plain as we can make it. And then it is time to run not to wander about what we can’t see.
Why we continue to strive to improve our vision, imperfect sight must not be a hindrance to our progress for the world is as clear as we see it and run we must run, until it is time for us to go. A number of animals have terrible eyesight, such as rhinoceros, bats, bulls, deep sea fish and moles, but still get on with the job of surviving.
Yes, we can not see clearly, yes the thought is not well thought through, yes, the idea is not well clarified, yes, the vision is not well polished. Yes, it is imperfect! Imperfect will not cease until perfect is brought in. Perfect belongs to another world, glimpse of it we might sight on this side of eternity.
Let’s go!
